Melisa Anne Bautista
Melisa works with and supports young people in Long Beach in building their critical consciousness, supporting their growth as leaders and human beings, and engaging students in dialogue and action around issues and topics that most impact them. Her purpose is rooted in community and she has a strong background and practice in Ethnic Studies having worked with students inside and outside of the classroom in San Francisco and Los Angeles as an educator. Melisa received her Bachelor’s degree at San Francisco State University and Masters in Education from UCLA. For her, racial justice matters because she believes that we need humanizing policies and practices that support youth of color in ensuring that they have an equitable education. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family/friends, cooking, yoga/meditation, napping and having new experiences!
