Oakland and Bay Area 

In Oakland, CFJ is working hard to make sure that all students have access to college. After joining together with ally group Youth in Focus to complete a research survey, we determined that students in Oakland are not receiving enough information about going to college and are not getting the counseling they need to help them get there. The goal of our current campaign is to change those conditions.

Currently our student members come from Oakland Tech, Oakland High, Arts Far West, and Met West high schools. In the past few years we have taken a leading role in the fight against the California High School Exit Exam, completed an “edutography” project that documented the poor conditions in our schools, and worked in coalition with Organize Da Bay (ODB) to challenge the state takeover of Oakland schools.

Our weekly student meetings take place on Tuesday at 4:30 pm. We are located at 1611 Telegraph Avenue, suite 317, in Oakland. Come check it out!
