Long Beach CFJ is working in Long Beach to make sure that all students have a fair opportunity to learn. Currently, our student members are from Cabrillo, Poly, and Wilson high schools. We are calling on the school district to give every student a curriculum that will prepare them for college because we believe that every student is capable and should be challenged to achieve at the highest level. In 2002, we challenged the school district to provide better bathroom conditions, and we won more janitors and a better bathroom cleaning schedule. Then we took it to the state level. We worked with Assemblymember Lowenthal to draft legislation to improve bathroom conditions in public schools statewide. We also have called on the state to provide better learning conditions in the worst schools in California. We are committed to winning a quality education for all students in the state.
Our weekly general student meetings take place on Friday at 4pm. We are located at 200 Pine Avenue, Suite 502, across from the AMC Theaters at Pine Square. Come check it out!
